Bellagio

Meleah just happened to have a friend who was staying in Bellagio penthouse while we were in Vegas, so the next night we got to go hang out with them! Needless to say we felt extremely cool.

We watched the water show from the windows and you could see the whole strip.

We may have gotten slightly over excited….

And then.. We got to ride around in a limo for the night!

We were in the top circular room

HOOVER DAM

The next day we woke up drove to see the Hoover Dam. We figured it was a must do since we were so close. We took a tour underneath and saw the huge water tunnels and generators used to create the energy used to keep Nevada and most of California running.

This is a generator and the wheel that spins inside of one. It was undergoing repair.

The water running through the dam has a very high content of calcium chloride which is what bleach the rock.  You can see a perfect white line on the rock slightly above water level. When the water was higher, it created the line. Kinda cool I thought

VEGAS

Once we got to Vegas….. we had a blast!  We saw Circus de Soleil the first night which I would highly recommend. Those people are amazingly talented and Very Strong. Afterwards we played around on the slot machines, too scared to do any real gambling.

Road Trip

Amy, Meleah, and I went to Las Vegas about 2 weeks ago. We decided to try and drive a scenic route and this is what we saw….

One of the worlds largest Chloride Salt Canals!  It looked like we were driving up on fields of snow, but obviously it wasn’t considering it was 75 degrees

We also drove through Amboy which is the town the movie Cars was based after. You know -Radiator Spring! Its in the middle of nowhere and has a population of 8 in the whole town.

And lastly we drove through a large part of the Mojave Desert.

It was a really pretty drive. Not what we were expecting though. We thought we would go through small towns and see little mom and pop stores… We keep forgetting we are in the desert I guess. Instead we saw about 10 cars and lots of open space. We had a lot of fun though and I think we only got lost twice! A big accomplishment for us.
